This was a first-of-its-kind case against this aircraft manufacturer.  The case involved the fatal accident of a 23 year-old Air Force Academy graduate who was receiving her initial flight training through a private flight school.  The instructor was demonstrating a simulated forced landing and struck electrical lines causing the plane to crash.  A post-crash fire engulfed the cockpit causing severe and ultimately fatal burns to the student. The National Transportation Safety Board (“NTSB”) determined that the sole cause of the crash and injuries was pilot error.  However, in our judgment, this investigation failed to take into account the potential for fuel system defects in the aircraft that caused or contributed to the severity of the fire that burned our client.

The Crosley Law Firm, P.C. assembled a team of seven experts, including scientists, doctors, and engineers, who determined that the student would have survived the crash and walked away with relatively minor injuries had it not been for the faulty design of the aircraft’s fuel system.  After dozens of witness depositions and extensive litigation over a span of nearly 3 years, the aircraft manufacturer and the private flight school settled the case for a confidential sum shortly before trial.
