Aviation Accidents
The Crosley Law Firm, P.C. has experience representing victims and their loved ones in airplane and helicopter crash cases. Our team of legal professionals, investigators, and experts, knows what it takes to successfully prosecute aviation cases against the responsible parties.
All aviation accidents are investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board (“NTSB”). By law, aircraft and helicopter manufacturers, as well as airlines are allowed to participate in the investigation. However, victims and their attorneys are excluded from the NTSB investigation. Often times, the NTSB is influenced by the aviation manufacturer’s or airline’s participation in the investigation. This may lead to a determination that the cause of the accident was not through fault of the aviation manufacturer or airline.
An aviation accident can result from any number of causes, including and not limited to: pilot error, equipment failure, design or structural defects, maintenance errors, engine failure and violations of the Federal Aviation Administration Regulations. It is imperative that victims of aviation accidents retain an experienced attorney experienced in aviation claims as soon as possible to assemble a team of experts to conduct their own investigation of the accident.

One recent example of our success involved the fatal accident of a 23 year-old Air Force Academy graduate who was receiving her initial flight training through a private flight school. The instructor was demonstrating a simulated forced landing and struck electrical lines, causing the plane to crash. A post-crash fire engulfed the cockpit, causing severe and, ultimately, fatal burns to the student. The NTSB determined that the sole cause of the crash and injuries was pilot error. The Crosley Law Firm, P.C. assembled a team of seven experts who determined that the student would have survived the crash but for the faulty design of the aircraft’s fuel system. After numerous depositions and extensive litigation, the aircraft manufacturer and the private flight school settled the case for a confidential sum shortly before trial. This is the kind of experience and expertise the Crosley Law Firm brings to its clients.
Motorcycle and Bicycling Accidents
Many people enjoy the pleasures that riding on two wheels can bring. However, motorcyclists and bicyclists are sometimes vulnerable to careless, negligent drivers and can suffer serious injuries if they are hit by a large truck, bus, or car. Accidents can also occur where road construction or other road hazards have been improperly marked or may exist.
The Crosley Law Firm, P.C. has investigated numerous motorcycle and bicycling accidents that have seriously injured and even killed bikers. We assist bikers and their families in seeking and recovering monetary compensation from negligent drivers, insurance companies and other entities that may be liable for damages.
When these types of accidents do happen, insurance companies do not always adequately compensate those injured or the families of persons killed by negligent drivers. If you don’t have a lawyer and have been offered compensation on a current claim, it is possible you are eligible for monetary damages significantly beyond what has been offered. Hiring an attorney, especially in a catastrophic damage case, can greatly increase the amount you recover in your claim. The Tom Crosley Law Firm has years of successful motorcycle and bicycle accident litigation experience and the extensive knowledge you require to make sure those injured in biking accidents are fully compensated under the law.

KEYS POINTS TO NOTE WHEN INVOLVED IN ANY ACCIDENT
Report the Accident Immediately
If you are unable to call, ask someone else to call the police (or 911) to report the accident and inform the police of the number of people who are injured, so that enough emergency personnel can respond to the scene. Advise all proper agencies of the occurrence (ie: file police report, contact insurance, notify owner of private site where accident may have occurred, contact Tom Crosley Law Firm).
Seek Medical Attention
Even if you don’t require emergency medical care, consult a physician as soon as possible. Some time might pass before you are fully aware of the extent of your injuries. Certain injuries may not be apparent until sometime after an accident. Consulting with a doctor may prevent any delay in your treatment and any aggravation of your injury. Even minor soreness can be an indication of a more significant injury.
Identify the Parties Involved
You and the other driver should exchange information, including the other driver’s name, address, phone number, drivers license number, license plate number, insurance carrier, policy number, and agents name and telephone number. Get the names, phone numbers and addresses of anyone who saw what occurred. Obtain identifying information from any witnesses to the accident, and ask the police officer who investigates the scene to provide you with a business card and the incident number, so that you can obtain an accident report as soon as possible.
Take Pictures
If possible, take several photographs from every angle of the scene of the accident, any visible injuries, and of the vehicles. Don’t forget that most newer mobile phones have cameras.
Keep a Diary
Identify any unusual changes in yourself. This may include all aches and pains, changes in behavior, memory loss, etc. Ask family members or friends if they have noticed any changes in your behavior.
Document all of your losses, including medical bills, reasonable transportation costs related to the injuries, future medical treatment, lost wages, future loss of earnings, the effect on your family, and the effect on your life. An experienced attorney can help you identify all losses that may be related to your accident.
Don’t Settle Your Claim with the Insurance Company Until You Know What it is Worth
It is a simple fact persons represented by an experienced and qualified attorney recover substantially more money on their insurance claims. Insurance companies are sophisticated. When it comes to injury claims, many major insurance companies have a policy consisting of the 3 Ds – Deny, Delay, Defend. If and when an insurance company does offer a settlement, it is often far less than your claim is worth.
